Hummingbird Australia produces pieces of art; accessories that take luxurious materials, namely fine silk, and weave themselves seamlessly into their surroundings. To that end, in their production of luxury hair accessories, Hummingbird focuses on the finest details to make a complete, beautiful brand story.
In a collaborative effort with Hummingbird we continued on this journey, to one of the most significant textile cities in history; Marrakech. Within clusters of almost organic alleyways the high Moroccan sun pieces canopies overhead and all-around leather, copper, cotton, organ oil and mint tea coalesce in a melting pot of sense and culture. Morocco’s artisanal textile traditions are the lifeblood of the city, we couldn’t hope for a better stage on which to document Hummingbird’s story.
Our aim was to allow the pieces -silk hair-ties, eye-masks and headbands- speak for themselves, their vibrant paintwork reverberating against Marrakech’s identity. We shot in dozens of locations: hidden souks, peaceful riads, spas, gardens and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. The result, a visual guide, somewhere between photo journal and product photography of what we hope becomes a staple fashion accessory that blends into the history of Marrakech.
